This beauty drew a crowd all weekend.
The Autorama Championship Show Tour is one of the largest show series in America. It is brought to you buy some of the biggest sponsors in the Automotive Industry such as Summit Racing, Meguiar’s Cleaning Products, Ucoat-it, and of course O’Reilly Auto Parts the main sponsor. With big companies like these as sponsors, you know this is a can’t miss event. The Autorama Championship Show Tour attracts some of the highest caliber customs, and is starting to see more competitors with late model cars & trucks. Autorama is also home to the famous Riddler Award Presentation at the Detroit, MI Autorama. If you haven’t heard of the Riddler Award, it is one of the most sought after awards to date for a custom car owner, and just being chosen for the Great 8, prior to being chosen for the award is a high honor. Don’t worry; if you don’t live in Texas, there is probably a tour stop near you. Having the privilege of living in Texas, I am near two of the Autorama tour stops (I know you are jealous!), one in Dallas, TX in February, and also in Houston, TX in November. If you don’t check back everyday like me be sure to check back later this year for the Houston Autorama coverage.
They don’t call it the Championship World of Wheels Tour for nothing. This Year the Dallas Autorama was presented By O’Reilly Auto Parts, and SuperStart. We started shooting our coverage around noon on Saturday, and already the place was packed to the gills. People were everywhere, and the ride quality was simply amazing. The coolest thing that I saw was something they haven’t done at the past Autoramas I have attended. They had a special section just for the old school Hotrod’s. Most people refer to customs of this style as Rat Rods, but I would say they are the old school hot rod because they are based on the hotrod trends from the 50’s. Because there weren’t billet wheels, and polished out goodies on the rods back then, all that went into customs came from a personal perspective. Either way, it was good to see some primer, and flat colors under the arena lights. Since I’m a fan of the whitewall look, it was just good to see that genre is coming alive, and even to the big shows.
If you are looking to attend an Autorama Event, and you don’t know where the one in your area will be, you can visit them on the web. Go to http://www.autorama.com for your Autorama Show Schedule. I’ll promise you that you’ll see some of the highest quality automotive creations known to man.

Just outside the Dallas Market Hall, looking in on the event.
A lawn mower even Tim the tool man Taylor could be proud of!
If we could give an award for the most character, we would give it to this 50’s Ford with concentrated Whoop-Ass!
