When planning for a show or any event for that matter, one of the hardest things to predict when picking out the weekend is the weather. Georgia is known for its strange and rapidly changing weather. Besides seeing the biggest possom I have ever seen in my life running into the back door to the hotel we stayed at, (someone got a surprise!), the strangest thing I encountered this weekend was the weather.
To give you a quick rundown of how drastic the changes were, and please post a comment if my times are off (I was a zombie Saturday from staying up the night before). Friday night to early Saturday morning rain showers were pretty constant until around 5am. At about 10am the rain had started back up again.

To give you a quick rundown of how drastic the changes were, and please post a comment if my times are off (I was a zombie Saturday from staying up the night before). Friday night to early Saturday morning rain showers were pretty constant until around 5am. At about 10am the rain had started back up again. Around lunch time we got news that there was a tornado warning meaning that one has touched down in the area. So what do you do when there’s a tornado, and you are in a building full of cars & trucks at a car show? We were told to stand up close to the wall to avoid any debris in the interior. (Makes sense) I know personally I stood close to a solid beam. Around 3pm the rain had stopped, and the tornado had passed. At this time the sun came out, and it was a nice Spring Day. Even at night, up until around 1am it wasn’t too cold outside. The temperature was probably around 50-60 degrees, and all this time we have seen weather reports that predicted snow. We were still in disbelief. Sunday morning we woke up to a surprise. The weather reports were correct, it was snowing! From rain, and a tornado, to sunny and warm, to snow. This was a strange weekend for weather, even for GA.
Now that you have your weather report, I guess it’s time I tell you about the show. That’s the whole idea right? Blooddrag started in 1999 as a car show and event to collect blood donations. Blood donors always get into the show free! Some of the vendors at this year’s event included BodyShots.biz, Drop Em Wear, Little Shop of Horrors, Suicidedoors.com, Underground-Scene.com, and Sickness video. With bad weather outside, the indoor show was packed! I would estimate that there were about 75 vehicles inside, and about 50 or so outside. As you can imagine shooting pictures inside a cramped building was a challenge. After figuring out what I wanted to shoot, I walked around in a circle going
through the building waiting for the right clearing to snap my coverage. Awards were given out much earlier than normal to give everyone more time to get home due to the road conditions caused by snow.
This was my second Blooddrag, and can’t wait for the third. I can’t say enough about the great job Eddy Cebreco and Crew of Blood Drag did on the show and handling the weather, also thank you for handing out awards early to give everyone more time to get home safely. I think I can speak for my fellow Georganians in saying thank you for bringing Blood Drag to GA! Big shows have been missed over the years. We look forward to Blooddrag 2009, and hope to bring you coverage from GA!
